Re: Polydentates
A ligand is polydentate if when we draw the lewis structure there is more than one bonding site in the form of lone pairs present on separate atoms in the compound. Fro the textbook, the main ones we have to know are en which is bidentate, bien which is tridentate, oxalate which is bidentate, and edta which is hexadentate. Hope this help!

A ligand is polydentate when it can occupy more than one binding site simultaneously.

Re: Polydentates
A ligand is polydentate if it can bond to a central metal atom in multiple coordinate bonding cites.

ligands are the things bonded to the metal. Ligands donate electrons to make a bond.
Examples would be F-, H2O
Re: Polydentates
You know that a ligand is a polydentate if it can bond to a central metal atom in more than one coordinate bonding cites.

Re: Polydentates
I know this is not completely accurate, but I usually look for Nitrogen atoms since usually they have lone pairs that can be used for bonding sites. If there is 2 or more Nitrogen then it would be considered polydentate.
