How to identify polydentates

Does anyone have some tips to help identify polydentates from their formulas?

Draw the lewis strcuture of the molecule
The ligand must have at least 2 atoms with lone pairs

The biggest tip I can give you is to draw the lewis structures. It becomes much easier to identify if a compound if polydentate or not.
