Should we memorize the list of common ligands we get from the Achieve hw for finals?

I don't think we necessarily need to memorize them, but it's good to know the ones that that come up frequently like NH3! I'm hoping it wouldn't be something out of the ordinary!

They are good to know, but I would definitely make sure to go over the ones Dr. Lavelle goes over in class. Hope this helps!

I would think that you need to memorize the list, because naming coordination compounds will likely be on the final exam. If anything, make particular note of the ones shown in the lectures or ones that pop up more often.

You should probably memorize all of the ligands provide on the naming coordination compounds pdf on Dr. Lavelle's website in order to be most prepared for the test.

From my understanding, Dr. Lavelle has not specified whether we should memorize the list of common ligands. I expect we'd be asked a question or two on naming coordination compounds on the final exam, so I’d play it safe and at least try to memorize the ones he’s mentioned in lectures (or those on his website PDF).

YES! My TA made sure to stress this point. The only sheets that we will have during the test will be the periodic table and the unit sheet. So the ligand names are important to know in case we are asked a question about it.

If Dr. Lavelle hasn't specifically mentioned memorizing ligands or a list of ligands, I would recommend being familiar with the ones used in class so that you can solve the achieve and textbook questions.
