How do we identify polydentate.monodetante/bidentate/chelate ligands?

Hi Teresa! I believe the way to identify polydentate ligands is to look at how many binding sites are available (lone electron pairs). For instance, diethylenetriamine has 3 Nitrogens (three amines), each with a free electron pair. Therefore, it is polydentate. Hope that helps!
