Polydentates

Postby Amy Shimizu 1J » Thu Dec 02, 2021 1:17 am

Can someone clarify how to tell if something is a polydentate, as well as what exactly a polydentate is? What does it mean when a ligand can bond multiple times?

Denticity indicates how many atoms in a ligand are bound to the metal. If a ligand is polydentate, this means that two or more of the ligand's atom are bound to the metal ion in the complex. Hope this helps!
