9C.8 Which of the following ligands do you expect to form chelating complexes? Explain your reasoning.

I don't know how to show the structures, but if someone could look in the textbook and explain which one is chelating, that would be very helpful. The structure names are a) Bipyridine, b) 1,10-Phenanthroline, c) Pyridine. I heard the answer is a), but why? I thought it would be b) because the two Nitrogens are closest together.

To form a chelating complex, there needs to be a nitrogen, a spacer, another spacer, and then another nitrogen. This structure, and orientation best forms a chelating complex with stronger bonds.
