Blood PH

Can someone give me a refresher on the compound for controlling blood PH I saw that it was a learning objective in the syllabus and wanted to make sure I got it right. Thank You :)

Blood pH is regulated by buffer systems such as the bicarbonate buffer system which you will learn about more in 14B. It follows the equation CO2 + H2O <--> H2CO3 <--> H+ + HCO3-. If the blood is too acidic, more H2CO3 is formed and more CO2 is released through breathing. If the blood is too basic, the carbonic acid breaks down into H+ and HCO3-.
