TMs' biological functions

Postby Katie Bart 1I » Sun Nov 24, 2019 5:20 pm

In our class notes, it says that Cr assists insulin in the control of blood sugar. Is this referring to the element Cr, or is it referring to Cr in the context of a coordination compound?

I believe that this was a reference to Chromium(III) picolinate, which is a coordination compound.

Chromium as an element in general is a beneficial to one's health, but doing some research after Dr. Lavelle's lecture, the best chromium supplementation is said to be chromium picolinate, which is a coordination compound.

What is the chemical formula for Chromium (III) picolinate? And will we need to know how to draw a Lewis structure of it?
