what is the most important biological application of coordination compounds/ligands?

Dr. Lavelle mentioned many examples of biological applications in lecture, but I wouldn't say any one of them is more important than the other.

Some examples he talked about was Cisplatin (cis-diamine-dichloro-platinum(II), a chemo drug which forms a coordination compound w/ DNA to stop cell division; EDTA (ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetate), which removes metals from a solution; and myoglobin/hemoglobin, which carries oxygen to muscle tissue.
