I would say we need to know that its a coordination compound and the structure (why its cis vs trans). Then I would also know its biological significance as a chemotherapy drug. It is used to stop DNA replication of cancerous cells. The chlorines in cisplatin bind to the guanines in the DNA strand, stopping replication thus preventing cancer from spreading.

I remember Dr. Lavelle mentioning how we should know how the cisplatin works, but i don't think we need to know anything more than the extent of what is mentioned above ^

There is a possibility we might have to know the structure of it as well because I think I read it somewhere on Bruinwalk.

I thought the only thing regarding the structure of cisplatin we needed to remember was what side the Cl atoms were on.

Do we need to know why the chlorines bind to the guanines of the DNA strand?
