How do manganese, nickel, copper, and zinc aid enzyme function?

They usually play a structural role in the active site and also a chemical role as they often bind directly to the molecule and weaken the bond that is broken. By making the bond weaker the reaction barrier is lowered and the reaction is faster. I will cover kinetics in Chem 14B.
