Relation between K and Kc

Postby Jeanelle Ocampo 2L » Sat Jan 28, 2023 10:42 pm

Hello! Do we need to know how to convert between K and Kc?

I don't think there is an exact relationship between K and Kc. Could you mean Kp and Kc? If so, I don't think so. Kc refers to concentrations and Kp refers to pressures, so depending on the states of the reactants and products in the question, you would solve for only one of the two.

Hi! Kc is just a more specific way to denote K because it just says what terms K is being presented in. There's no actual conversion between the 2!

K is an umbrella term for all equilibrium constants, where Kc refers to equilibrium in terms of concentration. You can also use Kp to refer to equilibrium in terms of pressure :)
