Unit of equilibrium constant

Postby Aneri Chouhan » Thu Nov 10, 2016 3:45 pm

Why don't Kc and Kp have units if we use concentration and pressure to calculate them? Depending on the powers, they do not always cancel each other out. So why don't they have units?

The units of the partial pressures are cancelled out by reference pressures that they are compared to. Also there is no need for units for kc and kp because they essentially present only a ratio.
