Kp and Kc

Postby Dominique Zuk 1G » Mon Nov 21, 2016 3:00 pm

When asked to give two different equations for Kp and Kc, how do they differ? Could someone please explain what needs to be included in each of these different equilibrium constants? Thanks!

The only difference between Kp and Kc is that one refers to the pressure of the element, in gas phase, and the other is the concentration of the element in a given solution. To tell the difference, Kc is usually shown in brackets. The difference in the values depend on the relative pressures/concentrations, based on the problem given.
