Problem 11.37 Help

Postby FCervania 1B » Sun Jul 30, 2017 5:56 am

I get how a is 1/41 because it's just the reverse equation,
but
Initially, I thought b) 41/2, and c) 41 * 2.

Can someone explain how they got

b) sqrt (41)
c) 41^2

Thank you

For a chemical equilibrium reaction, when you change the coefficients of the reactants and products, you change the K constant to the power of the change.

In problem c, equation #4 = 2 x equation #1. Therefore, the k constant is:

Now, you take the equilibrium constant and set it to the power of 2 to get your final answer of 1681. Try problem b yourself.
