What is Gibbs free energy and what do we need to know about its concept?

Dr. Lavelle has not covered thermodynamics yet so right now just focus on equilibrium

Yeah for chapter 11 the syllabus said to skip section 11.3 which slightly covers that so I think that we're meant to cover that later in the course!

Gibb's free energy is the energy available to do work. delta g = delta h - t*delta s. A negative delta G means the reaction is spontaneous. we do not have to worry about it yet; it is not on the midterm.

It being negative or positive also tells if the reaction is exo or endothermic.
