Concentration of P using the Quadratic Formula

Hello,

does anybody know why professor Lavelle said that one way to check today's problem was to plug the numbers in and see if it equals zero?

I think he was talking about how you can plug in 1.59 for x in the equation x^2 + 1.80x - 5.40 and that equals zero.

A quadratic equation by definition is one which can be expressed as Ax^2+Bx+C=0. The solution to these equations are values of x which when plugged into the equation make the equation shown true, and thus equal to zero.
