### Calculating Equilibrium values

Do you have to figure out which direction the reaction goes before doing ICE table?

### Re: Calculating Equilibrium values

If there are concentrations of both products and reactants, try to figure out Q and determine if the reaction needs to go to the left or the right. This is so you know whether or not to subtract x or add x to both sides. If only given one initial concentration on one side, assume x is subtracted from said side.

### Re: Calculating Equilibrium values

To add on, if only moles or concentrations are given for one side, it is generally safe to assume that these will be the only initial values given and that your x value will be taken away from these given values. This is because in your resulting equation, the x needs to have a reference point to another given value that must be either given or calculated using stoichiometry.
