ice table mols/molarity

In 5I.23 7th edition, the problem states that "a reaction mixture consisting of 2.00 mol CO and 3.00 mol H2 is placed in a reaction vessel of volume 10.0 L and heated at 1200 K. At equilibrium, 0.478 mol Ch4 was present in the system. Determine the value of Kc for the reaction CO(g) + 3H2(g) = Ch4(g) + H20(g) at 1200k."

Is is better to use mols in the ice chart and calculate the molarities after or to first calculate all the molarities and plug those into the ice chart?

I believe it is best to calculate the molarities before, this will make it easier when trying to solve for your unknown value.

It does not matter, as you will get the same answer either way. However, I am confused on how to determine which reaction will be favored when calculating the positive and negative changes in molarity when constructing the ICE table. Does anyone happen to know?

Solving for molarity beforehand will allow you to find the unknown values as opposed to finding moles.
