Test and acid/ base recognition

Postby Maria Solis Disc 1G » Tue Jan 22, 2019 1:12 am

On this weeks test, will we need to know what acids/bases are strong/weak out of memory, or will we be told or be given a Ka/ Kb.

From Chem 14A, we had to memorize which acids were strong and what categorized bases as strong.
Strong acids: HCl, HI, HBr, H2SO4, HNO3, HClO4
Strong bases: Most of Group 1 and 2 metal hydroxides
If you know those, then everything else should be a weak acid or base. However, I would assume in the question it should include a value or tell you if it's a weak acid/base.
