What is pH and how do I find it?

pH is a logarithmic scale (from 0 to 14) that determines how acidic or basic an aqueous solution is based on the concentration of hydronium ions.
pH= -log [H3O+}

pH tells us the acidity or basicity of a solution by measuring the concentration of hydrogen ions. We calculate it by taking the negative log of the concentration of hydronium ions. (pH = -log[H3O+])

pH is how much acidic or basic a substance is. The equation is pH = -log[H3O+].

The pH tells you how acidic or basic something is. So the values range from 0-14, 0 being the most acidic and 14 being the most basic with 7 being neutral. As you move away from the number 7 either going up or down, you become more acidic or more basic. You find it by finding the concentration of hydronium. Once you have that value take the -log of it and there you go. Make sure to remember if you are given the concentration of hydroxide to find the -log of that value but then to subtract it from 14 in order to get pH.

pH is a measure of the acidity of a solution. It is the negative log of the proton concentration of a solution. It is used because it is a simpler way to look at acidity rather than look at the actual concentration of the protons.

pH tells us how acidic or basic something is. We can find pH through -log([H+]). We can also find pH if we only have pOH(log([OH-])) using the relationship pH+pOH=14.

pH=-log[H3O+] or pH=-log[H+]
Please note that anything with brackets means "concentration of".

pH is a measure of the amount of free hydrogen and hydroxyl ions in the water. Water that has more H+ ions is acidic, but water that has more OH- ions is basic. pH is affected by chemicals in the water, so it can be indicative of chemical changes happening in water.

pH is a description of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. pH<7 is acidic, pH=7 is neutral, and pH>7 is basic. to find pH, use the equation pH=-log(H3O+)
