Test Question
Just a quick question, would there be a difference in Kp and Kc if you are dealing with gases. Like, wouldn't both values be the same?

Re: Test Question
You would usually use Kp when dealing with gases. However, if the question explicitly states find the Kc, then just use Kc when doing calculations.

Re: Test Question
Usually the problems specify whether to find the concentration or partial pressure, you can use Kc to also find the K of gases but I think they want us to use Kp for gases

Re: Test Question
As stated above, Kp is designated for gases because it is the equilibrium constant for partial pressure, hence the p. On the other hand, Kc can be used for both aqueous solutions and gases as it is a measurement of concentrations, usually mol/L.
