Changes in pressure

Does volume affect pressure only when it is decreasing?

Hopefully I'm answering this question as you intended. Any change in volume will affect pressure. If volume increases, pressure decreases. Conversely, if volume decreases, pressure will increase.

Volume can also affect pressure when it increases as well. an increase in volume means that the concentration decreases so therefore the pressure decreases as well(P=(n/v*RT)). The reaction would not change however if the pressure was changed due to the presence of an inert gas that has no involvement on the equation.

Volume has a direct relationship with pressure, so if one increased, the other would also increase and vise versa.
