### Partial pressure

Is there a difference between partial pressure and just pressure?

### Re: Partial pressure

The total pressure is the sum of the partial pressures of each gas in a mixture.

### Re: Partial pressure

The partial pressure refers to the pressure of a gas that could be calculated if it were alone in a container of the same volume and at the same temperature as the original mixture.

### Re: Partial pressure

In a mixture of gas, each gas is responsible for a partial pressure. In comparison, the total pressure is just the sum of these partial pressures.

### Re: Partial pressure

Total pressure is the sum of all gas's partial pressure. Since we only have to solve for the gas used in the reaction, we use the partial pressure instead.
