Le Chatelier's Principle

Postby EthanPham_1G » Sun Jan 12, 2020 10:32 am

Will adding/removing solids and liquids change the equilibrium at all according to Le Chatelier's principle?

No, because solids and liquids are always in excess. Thus, removing or adding it would not affect equilibrium.

No, solid and liquid concentrations usually do not change during reaction since nothing is dissolving, whereas gaseous and aqueous solutions do.

Le Chatelier's Principle tells us that chemical reactions adjust to minimize the effect of changes, but because solids and liquids are negligible in equilibrium equations, adding or removing them will not have an effect on the equilibrium.

No, solids and liquids are present in a constant amount throughout the reaction so adding or removing some solid/liquid will not affect the reaction.

No, because they are pure substances and therefore don't have concentrations to use in the ratio
