Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
homogenous equilibrium is when all reactants and all products are in the same phase

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
homogenous is all the products and reactants are in the same phase. it is heterogenous if even one of the products or reactants is in a different phase.

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
for example, N2 + 3H2 - 2NH3 equilibrium reaction we went over in lecture is homogenous since the reactants and products are all in gas phase.

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
A homogeneous equilibrium has to have all reactions and products in the same phase. Such as they all have to be gases, or all aqueous,... If even one of the reactants or products are in a different phase then it is a heterogeneous equilibrium.

He never went over how homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions affect the speed of a reaction

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
It is when all the reactants and products are in the same phase (e.g. gas).

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
All the products/reactants have to be in the same phase for it to be considered homogeneous.

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
It is homogeneous when the products and reactants are in the same phase. Heterogeneous is when the all the products and reactants aren't in the same phase so you would have to omit pure liquids and solids in your equilibrium calculations.

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
Is there a certain significance to homogeneous and heterogeneous equilibrium? Or do we just need to know what they are?

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
When products and reactants are in the same phase, the reaction is known as homogenous

Re: Homogenous Equilibrium
Is there a different way we should approach a problem where we have to calculate the equilibrium constant if the given chemical reaction is heterogeneous and not homogeneous.
