ICE charts on tests/exams

Postby Ryan Narisma 4G » Tue Jan 14, 2020 1:10 pm

Do we have to include the ICE chart in tests and exams or can we just write the equilibrium expression using the variables?

I believe if the problem requires an ICE chart, you should use a chart to show each step in order to get full credit. You should ask your TA to be sure, but I would say yes to be safe.

I would say yes because partial credit is huge on Lavelle's tests so you should write it out just in case.

Since we spent almost an entire lecture learning about ice charts, it is safe to say that we will have to include them on exams as part of showing our work.

I think we should include the ICE charts since Dr. Lavelle did an example with it in class, and it may also be a way to receive partial points.

I would say it's always better to show extra work rather than not enough!

You should use ICE charts when needed! In my discussion, we mostly did ICE charts for weak acids and bases.

You will have plenty of time on the test so you might as well.
