Negative pH

Can a pH be 0 or negative? If so, what would that mean?

Yes, a pH can be below 0. This just tells us that the molarity of hydrogen ions is greater than 1. Theoretically it is possible but in a lab, that can rarely be observed.

The conventional scale of ph being between 0 and 14 is dewrvied from reactions with water at room temperature.

You get a negative pH when the concentration provided is greater than 1

Yes, pH can be negative and it just means that the molarity of H+ is greater than 1. Google tells me that some acids have been observed at pH -18.

You can definitely have an acid with a negative pH, although this would be very rare. Additionally, very strong bases can also have a pH of more than 14.

If a pH is less than 0 or greater than 14, that means the concentrations of H30+ or OH- are larger than one molar. However, the concentration of hydrogen ions are usually between 1 M or 10^-14 M.
