Why is the H2O ignored when creating the ICE box?

I think it is because it is a liquid and liquids aren't included when you are using concentrations that have to do with K.

it's ignored if it's in a liquid state. as a solvent, it's in large excess, the concentration isn't really gonna change so it's not included in the K equation

Since the concentration isn't changing, [H2O] will appear in the numerator and the denominator, so it will be equivalent to one and have no affect on the equilibrium constant. Therefore, it makes the most sense to just exclude it from your calculations altogether.

pure liquids and solids are not involved in the ice box so H20 wouldn't be involved in liquid form. However, it is when it is in gas form like the examples in class.
