ATP QUESTION ON FINAL

Postby Fdonovan 3D » Mon Mar 16, 2020 12:28 am

Can someone explain to me the ATP hydrolysis question from the final? I’m not sure how the value of Q was supposed to be determined I just felt like I wasn’t picking up on some given information.

it said that all inorganic phosphate came from ADP so you can use the stoichiometry to find how much Pi you have. you can calculate Q from there

I believe that the question stated that the phosphate actually came from ATP, not ADP

it said that all inorganic phosphate came from ATP so I assumed that the phosphate, as a result, had the same concentration as ATP which was 4 x 10^3 or something I believe. As a result, my reaction quotient equation was: ((ADP)(P)/(ATP) / (9 x 10^-6)(4 x 10^-3)/ (4 x 10^-3). However, I am not sure if I did the problem correctly as I heard some people got different answers.

However, I do believe that the statement of how all inorganic phosphate came from ATP was important in order to solve the problem

Sine it says pi comes from ATP, the two concentrations cancels and K depends on [ADP] only.

Maybe I am wrong about how I interpreted this problem, but I assumed that since all the Pi came from ATP, I assumed it meant that it only came from ATP that was broken into ADP...so Pi = ADP concentration...

I'm worried now, but I guess "it is what it is"...

I did the same as you, ATP and Pi cancel out according to my understanding of the quesiton

sorry I meant ATP and not ADP. yeah I did everything that everyone else mentioned above.

K depended on ADP, basically the same as ADP.

K solely depended on ADP
