K Calculation Clarification

Postby Leslie Romo 1C » Sun Nov 15, 2015 12:39 pm

If the formulas have liquids and solids, then you should ignore the liquids and solids and only include aqueous or gas in the K calculation? is this right?

does this mean that you would replace the liquids and solids with a 1 ?

Yes, this is correct. If there are solids and liquids present in the reaction, then it is a heterogenous reaction and the concentrations of solids and liquids are not considered when finding the equilibrium constant, K. Therefore, activities of solids and liquids will be equal to 1 in the equation
