Sig Figs for Equilibrium Problems

Postby Ronald Yang 2F » Tue Nov 17, 2015 9:41 pm

I had a question about sig figs for equilibrium problems. On paper, when I work with the quadratic part of the problems, when I multiply out terms, do I write numbers based on the sig figs of the numbers I multiplied but use the longer numbers to calculate change in x or do I write them all out on paper? Like will we be marked off for sig figs throughout our calculations or for just the final answer? (Want to know for the final)

The only time you will be graded on sig figs is in the final answer but it's always a good idea to hang on to a few extra during calculations so that you don't mess up the rounding by accident.
