Conversion between K and Kc

Postby 405513470 » Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:06 pm

I noticed that the book shows how to convert between K and Kc. Are we expected to know how to do this? I don't remember learning it in class.

We learned in class that if we want to calculate the K value (Kp), and we are given the concentrations of products and reactants, we can determine their partial pressures using the equation PV = nRT. We would use the same equation if we wanted to calculate Kc with partial pressures. We did not go over the conversion equation between Kc and Kp in class (K = Kc(RT)^(delta n)), but all the problems covered in lectures did not require this equation, so I would assume that we do not need to know this formula.
