More reactant and product

Postby 705676154 » Sat Mar 12, 2022 3:25 am

What happens when more reactant is added and what happens when more product is added?

if you're asking this question in terms of when the reaction is in equilibrium, then according to Le Chatelier’s principle, when additional reactant is added, the equilibrium shifts to reduce this stress: it makes more product. Whereas when additional product is added, the equilibrium shifts to reactants to reduce the stress. hope this makes sense :)

This would depend if the reaction is in equilibrium or not when you are adding reactants or products. If you added more reactants at equilibrium more products will be made and if you added more products more reactants will be made.

I agree with the above statements, when more reactants are added, the equilibrium changes and makes more product, whereas when more product is added the equilibrium shifts to reactants.

When more product is added to a reaction, then the equilibrium will shift towards the reactant and if more reactants are added to the reaction, then the equilibrium will shift towards the products.

Increasing the amount of product would shift the equilibrium towards the reactant and increasing the reactants would shift the equilibrium towards the products.

When there is more reactants the equilibrium shifts to the right towards products and if more products are added the equilibrium shifts to the left towards the reactants.

When more reactant is added, Q<K, and the reaction shifts to form more products, when more product is added, Q>K and the reactions shifts to form more reactants

When you add more R, it will tend to shift and start to create more P. If you add more P then it'll shift back and start making more R

When more reactant is added, the equilibrium will shift to the right towards the product to counteract this effect. When more product is added, the equilibrium will shift to the left towards the reactants.

When more reactant is added, the reaction forms more products

When more product is added, the reaction forms more reactants

By Le Chatelier's, if you add more reactants, more products are formed. If you add more products, reactants are formed.

Using Le Chatlier's principle: when more reactant is added, more products will be formed to offset the change. When more products are added, more reactants will be formed for the same reason.
