acids and bases

Postby Maribel 1E » Sat Jan 28, 2023 4:29 pm

Is there an easy way to quickly determine whether chemical formulas are acidic, basic or neutral?

Typically strong acids are a Hydrogen bonded to a group 7 element like HCl,HBr,HI or a hydrogen bonded to a negatively charged compound like HClO4,HNO3 etc. Typically strong bases are typically a group 1 or 2 element bonded to a OH, such as LiOH, NaOH,Ca(OH)2 or Ba(OH)2.
