Textbook G5.11

I know calculating Q is the same as you would calculate K but how do different phases affect the calculation of Q? The equations given have all different phases (s,l,g) and I was wondering how those affect the calculations, if at all.

Calculating the reaction quotient Q is the exact same process as calculating K, but the only distinction is that the reaction is not at equilibrium. When calculating K or Q you only include the concentrations/partial pressures of reactants and products in the gaseous or aqueous phases. Reactants and products in the solid or liquid phases are always omitted from these calculations. Hope this helps!
