cubic equations

was wondering if anyone could give some insight on the objective "know when and how to simplify cubic equations"

If the change (x) is very small (<10^-3), then you can simply substitute 0 for X. for example in x^3/(2-x^2), where x is less than 10^-3, you can substitute 0 for the x's on the bottom. (Only do it if it wouldn't cause the whole numerator or denominator to become zero)
