How can we tell if a molecule is acidic or basic just by looking at the molecular equation?

Generally acids will have H or H2 in front that it donates (think HCl or H2S). Bases will generally have OH or NH in the back (H connected to a highly electronegative atom) to accept protons (think NaOH or NH3). Mostly you'll know from context and practice though.
