Question 5.13

Postby Sarah Moore 1G » Tue Jan 31, 2023 2:46 pm

In the book, the question 5.13 (listed blow) has the answer 2A --> B + 2C
Can someone explain why A is 2? I understand the relationship between B and C but I do not understand what makes 2 moles of A. Thank you

The following plot shows how the partial pressures of reactant and products vary with time for the decomposition of compound A into compounds B and C. (A is at about 17.5, B at 5, and C at 10, at equilibrium).

The relative change (final - initial) of A is two times that of B. Your first step should be figuring out the 3 final and 3 initial points from the graph.
