Question: Calculate the pH of (a) 0.19 M NH4CL (aq); (b) 0.055M AlCl3 (aq)

Hi, how are we supposed to calculate the pH without the KA value?

Hello,

For these problems, I believe you have to use tables 6C.1 and 6C.2 to find the Ka/Kb values.

Hope this helps :)

Hi! To find the Ka value, you'd need to refer to the Acidity/Basicity constants on tables 6C.1 and 6C.2. If you can't find the specific acid or base, it is most likely given in its conjugate form, so you'll have to use the relation of Ka*Kb = 10^-14.

Has anyone figured out the AlCl3 one yet bc I have no idea how to rewrite the equation for that one to give me something from the 6C.1 and 6C.2 tables
