I was wondering what the best way was to prepare for the quiz this week? To add, what is the format of the quiz and the quiz will be during discussion sections correct?

I was in Lavelle's class last quarter for 14A. Yes, the tests are during discussion section. The format is open ended questions with a possible mix of a few multiple choice questions thrown in there. It's usually around 8-10 questions that have multiple parts. For 14A at least, the tests were worth 40 points but since we only have 2 this quarter they will probably each be worth more. Also, along with calculation problems, there are always some conceptual questions that ask you to explain in words what is happening behind some chemical ocurrance so many sure you study more than just the equations. Hope that helps!!

Homework problems from the problem sets from the past two weeks often help a lot and are great practice. Also, if you can go to UAs for some worksheets for more practice, attend office hours and discussions are also a big help. I also do a lot of YouTubing videos on the topics that'll be on quiz 1 (Chemical Equilibrium and acids and bases). Hope that helps! Good luck :)

I had Lavelle last quarter, and the best way to study is to do the homework problems, and the practice worksheets that UA's like Karen and Lyndon give and attend their sessions. Also read (or at least skim) the textbook.

Practice problems from homework, the audio-visual focus topic post-assessment, and UA workshop worksheets.

If you still need some practice or clarification, I find it helpful to watch videos online like Khan Academy.
