For 12.79 I look for the Ka value for H2SO4 but on table 12.10 all it says is 'strong' for Ka1, what does that mean? Could someone please explain, thanks!

Since it is a strong acid it doesn't have a Ka value as it dissociates completely in the reaction.

H2SO4 is a polyprotic acid. When it loses the first hydrogen, the reaction is strong since it completely dissociates into HSO4- and H+. The second dissociation isn't so complete; HSO4- is a weak acid and has a Ka value.

If you wanted to find the total amount of hydronium ions, you add the hydronium produced from the H2So4 and the ones produced by HS04-. H2S04 dissociates completely but HS04- is a weak base.

Because H2SO4 is a strong acid, it will not have a Ka value because it completely dissociates into H and HSO4 when it first loses the hydrogen.

strong acids dont have ka values. if you see a ka value, its most likely a weak acid

The higher the Ka value the weaker the acid. Since H2SO4 doesn't have a ka value at all it is a strong acid.
