Increasing volume

Postby 405112316 » Fri Mar 15, 2019 3:30 pm

So I know if you decrease volume, K will shift to increase whichever side has less moles of gas. But, if volume increases, will K shift to increase whichever side has more moles of gas? or will K not change at all?

Yes, K shifts to the side with more moles of gas when volume is increased.

Yes if the volume increases K will indicate movement to whichever side has less gas molecules, this is because an increase in volume (expansion) is indicative of a decrease in pressure.
