### Using the "ICE" box

Do we include data concerning solids and liquids in our "ICE" box calculations? I know such data is excluded from calculations of the equilibrium constant, so is it also omitted from our "ICE" box calculations?

solids and liquids are not included in the "ICE" box calculations.

Solids and liquids are not included because there is generally a large amount of it. This generally does not affect the reactants or products which is why it is left out of the ICE table calculations.

You would only include gases and aqueous substances in these calculations!

Since the "ICE" box is related to calculations with the equilibrium constant as well, you do not include solids and liquids. The rule applies to both types of problems as it refers to the same type of reactions.

Don't include solids and liquids in equilibrium calculations.

Solids and liquids are not included in the equilibrium reaction and therefore shouldn't be used in the ICE box.

Solids and liquids are also omitted from ICE box calculations because a negligible amount of the pure substances is used in the reaction. Solids and liquids don't have concentrations and are not included in the K expression or the ICE box.

Only gas and aqueous are included, never liquids and solids.
