lewis structure

Postby bellaha4F » Sun Jan 19, 2020 1:19 am

we won't need to draw lewis structures for reactions/products, or depict acids/bases on tests for 14b right?

I think Lavelle said in class that he draws Lewis structures only for us to better understand what is going on, although I don't know if this means that we will ahve to in the future or not.

As mentioned above he usually draws them so that we can better visualize what is happening during the reaction. I would be surprised if we had to draw one for the test, but I could see one being given for us to use as part of a question.

He said that it won't be required to draw them but it is a helpful way to visualize the reaction.

We dont need to draw them, but its easier to understand with them.

Knowing how to draw the lewis structures won't specifically be tested (I think), but it will just help with being able to understand what happens during a reaction when doing problems with acids/bases, salts, etc. so that you can see the proton/electron transfers.

I think you needs to understand how the protons or electron pairs are transferred, but you do not actually have to draw it.

No lavelle just does to build on 14a material and for visualization, but on the test you won't get extra points for it. You could anyway if it helps to understand the chemistry

Lavelle sees it has a useful way of visualizing the reactions.

No chem 14A material will not be on our tests. It can be helpful for deeper understanding but I feel like it is not necessary.

I believe he said in a lecture that Chem 14b doesn't have lewis structures.

No he only draws the structures for clarity but they are only for 14a not 14b.
