How do we calculate the molar concentration of H3O given just the Kw?

You would have to know the concentration of OH- if that was the only information you are given.

Depending on the information given in the question, you may have to use different equations to solve for [H3O+]. An equation that relates [H3O+] to Kw would be [H3O+][OH-]=Kw.

If you are just given Kw, then wouldn't the molar concentration of H3O be 1.0*10^-7?

How do we calculate the molar concentration of H3O given just the Kw? Assuming that you are calculating the [h3o+] of pure water and it is at 25 degrees Celcius, the concentration of H3O+ be 1.0*10^-7.

Even if the temperature is not 25C, assuming that you are dealing with pure water, [H3O+] = [OH-] so .

### Re: Molar concentration of H3O

If we assume that the concentrations of h3o+ and oh- is the same, the answer will be square root of kw which is 10^-7.
