Changes in Pressure and Temperature

Postby Emmaplant1c » Fri Jan 21, 2022 5:29 pm

Is there any scenarios where will will be solving problems with changes to both pressure and temperature?

Probably not simultaneously

I don't think we have seen problems with both pressure and temperature changing at the same time, however the equation PV=nRT relates the two, so that is most likely the equation that would be involved in answering the question.

Likely not, a change in two variables often complicates a problem and it's hard to deduce an outcome.

It's a possibility that when pressure changes, temperature changes, which we can tell from PV=nRT. P and T are directly proportional, so we could see a problem where both change and we are given either of the two variables and we have to find the other.

Most likely it would only be a change in a single variable not both as it becomes complicated

For the purposes of this class, we don't have to know how to change both pressure and temperature because that is too difficult for the level of class this is. Maybe in future chemistry classes, we would have to do that.
