But, if those metal ions are cleaved from their anion that can then react with water, the pH will change. But, the ions alone do not, it is the act of them dissociating that changes pH.

Hi!
Yes group one and group two cations do not affect the pH, as there are usually equal amounts in solution of them on either side of the reaction.

Yes, the two groups that have no effect on pH are group 1 and group 2.

Yup! that is correct, the metal ions by themselves do not affect pH

Hi! The elements that do not affect pH are in Group 1 and Group 2.

Metal cations in group 1 and 2 don't affect pH and also anions of strong acids don't affect the pH of solutions either.
