Achieve Wk 2 Question 3
For question number 3 on week two of Achieve, I obtained an ionization percentage of 9.39% which is over 5%. Therefore, I approached the questions without omitting the -x in solving for x. However, when solving for x using the quadratic equation, I obtained an answer on the calculation deemed a "Non-real answer." Does anyone have any suggestions on how else to approach this problem? I've attached my work below.

Re: Achieve Wk 2 Question 3
I believe you forgot the negative sign in front of the x^2 of your quadratic.

Re: Achieve Wk 2 Question 3
Yes, when solving for the quadratic formula, ensure all signs (+/-) of your quadratic are correct, so that the quadratic is able to be calculated properly. Also, be sure to calculate BOTH outcomes of the quadratic equation (-b plus/minus sqrt) to make sure you didn’t miss a correct value.

Re: Achieve Wk 2 Question 3
Make sure to use the correct quadratic formula x=(-b +/- sqrt(b^2 -4(a)(c)))/2(a) when solving your equation, as I believe you forgot the negative sign that goes in front of the very first "b". It's a very easy mistake to make! If you do this you should be able to get the right answer.

Re: Achieve Wk 2 Question 3
Be careful when forming the quadratic formula. I also wasn't paying attention to the signs of the values for this question, so I spent a good time trying to see what I did wrong. There should be a negative sign before your x^2 or there should be opposite signs for the other two values.
