Strong Acids and Bases

Postby Mya Majewski 1L » Wed Jan 23, 2019 10:40 pm

Since strong acids and bases completely dissociate in a reaction, we do NOT need to do an ICE table and therefore we just need to look at the moles of OH or H30 on the product side and multiple that by the initial conc of the acid or base?

Correct because it dissociates completely you assume all of the reactant is used to form the products.

In the textbook the only polyprotic strong acid listed is sulfuric acid which dissociates completely.

Does this mean we don't need to calculate the pKa or pKb for strong acids or bases?
